Alex and Grace's Wedding

Added Tuesday 27th January 2009

Here are some photos from my last wedding of 2008. Alex and Grace were married at St. Nicholas Church in Elmdon Park. We started off at home with Grace and her family and fab bridesmaids.

Alex is such a great guy - always had a smile on his face. From these two photos you'd think they could see each other at this stage!

During the ceremony, Alex's sister Valerie read a poem she wrote specially for them. Valerie writes beautifully for weddings, christenings, anniversaries and anywhere she can put words to what the heart wants to say. She's working on her forthcoming website now, but until then, I can get you together if you'd like to commission her!

Stars and The Moon

Violet is the colour of the sky in the morning
Pale are the shades of the moon
Warm is the Summer in your smile at dawn
Bright are the words and the tune

Deep is the blue of the ocean beneath us
Vast is the sky overhead
Long will I love you and true will I stay
To the face in my arms
And the voice in my head

Will you be the snow on my morning at Christmas
Will you be the break in my fall
As the years tumble on and the days fall away
We will stand in the swirl of it all

Silver is the colour of the stars in the evening
Shooting our dreams into blue
For you and for I. All the days of our lives
To the sun and the stars and the moon.

On the driveway of the rather wonderful Nuthurst Grange in Hockley Heath. Nuthurst is a wonderful location for a wedding, with lovely grounds and really awesome food. I should know - Grace and Alex were so sweet and treated me to a place at a table. I had a name-card and everything!! It's such a compliment to be asked to enjoy a meal with all the family instead of camping out in the lounge (or worse - the car!) It's entirely unnecessary! So I'm really grateful to them for making me feel like a part of the day.

Alex and Grace, you're such kind-hearted people, it was a real joy to work with you and watch your wedding. I hope you enjoy the pictures you made!

Tom and Anita's wedding

Added Tuesday 6th January 2009

Here is a selection of images from Tom and Anita's wedding a few weeks ago. We started out at Sketchley Grange, near Hinckley in Leicestershire.

And on to Our lady of the angels in Nuneaton, where Tom anxiously awaits his bride to be!

These two were cute. Some might have thought they were in the way, but not me. I think they make the shot!

I usually don't remember what was so funny, but I always love photographs of genuine emotions, whatever kind they are!

It was pretty cold outside! So once we'd showered the newlyweds with confetti, we all hurried back inside for group photos, and one or two cute portraits of Tom and Anita.

At Sketchley, red carpets and champagne awaited the happy couple.

Just a shot I'd had in mind for a while, and saw an opportunity to try out. Anita jumped at the chance. She's so much fun to shoot!

Sometimes you just can't make stuff like this happen! An adorable little'un in a red dress, hanging something on a Christmas tree. Perfect!

Oh yes, Tom's got some game on the dance floor! I had such a wonderful time working with these two lovely people, and I hope to see much more of them in the future. Thank you Anita and Tom, and I wish you every happiness and blessing.

Happy New Year

Added Thursday 1st January 2009

A happy new year to you and all those whom you love! Especially to those of you who are now starting a new chapter in your family histories, I wish peace, prosperity and blessings!

I just got back from spending New Year's Eve in London with friends. After enjoying Hannah's delicious bangers and mash, with wine and Krispy Kreme donuts (from HARRODS no less!) we made it down to the other side of the London eye to see the fireworks, along with an estimated half a million others. That's an incredible number - about 7% of Greater London, or nearly 1% of Britain!!

The fireworks were brilliant - well worth the jostling about and walking (at least once, anyway!) You can't appreciate on the tv the dynamic range, the panoramic view, or the sound!

Afterwards, we walked around for an hour looking for a tube station that was open. In the end we got on a bus for an hour! By the way thank you Emma and Rob for my cool new scarf. You're right - I do look hot in it!

2008 has been an amazing year in business for me, and 2009 looks even better! It's been a pleasure to make friends with some wonderful couples, shoot many beautiful weddings and move on up in the wedding industry. This blog's been one of the most fun things I've ever done that can still be described as 'work'. I'm always as surprised as I am chuffed when I hear that people are actually reading it! New year's resolutions (along with going to the gym, eating less donuts and of course dating beautiful celebrities) include writing about more varied and interesting things, and hopefully getting in front of the lens once in a while!

This one's my favourite. I just thought it was funny all these people enjoying the fireworks through the screens of their cameras and phones. Further evidence though that the D700 rules the world. I bet none of their pictures came out like this.

With blessings and warm wishes, I hope you all have a wonderful 2009!
