Malcolm and Rosemary's Golden Wedding Anniversary

Added Saturday 31st July 2010

Malcolm and Rosemary from St. Alphege Church, Solihull asked me to come along and photograph their BIG 50th wedding anniversary garden party. It was such fun to go and photograph an anniversary that looked just like a wedding reception!

Here's the whole gang, looking hungry enough to eat me if I don't hurry up and let them into their dinner!

Fran and Andy are great friends who mean the world to me and my little sister. Fran's a budding photographer too, and just found out what the "A" mode on her camera's for. Congratulations Fran, I reckon you now know more than 95% of DSLR owners!

Malcolm and Rosemary are a sweet couple who it's been a pleasure to work with. Particularly given how involved they've been over the years with photography and, I believe, the Royal Photographic Society (an organisation I highly admire for it's excellent initials), it's an honour to be chosen to document this lovely occasion.

Pre Wedding Meeting with Steve and Rachael

Added Thursday 29th July 2010

I met Rachael at Paul and Lisa's wedding last September. It's really exciting when a guest who's a friend of a bride or groom chooses me for their own wedding, particularly when I do my best not to make a fuss while shooting a wedding! Maybe I should make much more noise and hand out business cards in future!

The reception is at Adcote School, which I love, because I'm such a kid at heart and it reminds me of Hogwarts. But not as scary, obviously.

Before we even start, let's just clear something up. Rachael is gorgeous. Am I right? Course I am. Rich is always Right. Rich is rarely wrong too!

There are some great gardens and grounds to explore for photos later, I'm really excited about that part!

Steve's a natural too. I think he looks right at ease here!

Aha! Then I asked very nicely if we should take some photos with Steve and Rachael's sexy little car. They're so damn cool they didn't say no!

Finally we stopped off at Oxon church for a look around. I can't wait to be back here for the big day!

Oh cute!

Simon and Jo's Engagement Photos

Added Wednesday 21st July 2010

Some casual photos from Simon and Jo's engagement session! Their wedding will be in September at Hills Court.

White Studio Portraits - Rachael and Matt

Added Sunday 18th July 2010

I really should put more portraits up on the blog. It's not only about weddings you know! Rachael and Matt got in touch a few weeks ago to have some cool studio photographs taken for their Mum.

If you'd like some awesome family photos taken by an ACTUAL photographer and NOT charged £1000 for the privilege, please see here or give me a call!

Hagley Hall, Tim and Helen's Wedding

Added Friday 16th July 2010

Some photos from Tim and Helen's beautiful wedding at Hagley Hall. Starting at the bride's hotel with some lovely details...

Helen being laced up by her sweet Mum Diane and her bridesmaid Vicky. Yes, Vicky is in her pyjamas - her dress was not that colour.

Imposing? Certainly.

The ceremony was held in the beautiful saloon, with natural window light streaming in from the front.

Beautiful.

Tim and Helen celebrated their marriage with a humanist ceremony conducted by Victoria Denning, Humanist Celebrant. I have to admit I'd never given a thought to what humanism was before, but Victoria emailed me a copy of Tim and Helen's utterly bespoke and highly personalised wedding ceremony before the day, and it was lovely to then see that ceremony fulfilled in front of me.

If like lots of couples these days, you're not religious but would really love something meaningful, spiritual and personal, give Victoria a call and ask her what it's all about! She's also just really nice to talk to.

Joining the few portraits already on the grand staircase!

Tim and Helen are popular!

They've invested in some crazy-beautiful light at Hagley, see?

Down in the cellar bar for the evening celebrations and first dance! Thank you Tim and Helen for making my job look easy (yeah, 'thanks'. Lol!) I don't think I took a single bad photo of you guys, you looked lovely together and it was such a great day. :-)

Beau Bride Wedding Show

Added Monday 12th July 2010

A few weeks ago I exhibited at the Beau Bride show in Coventry. We weren't inundated with customers (!) but I always find a way to make these shows really useful, and got to meet lots of other businesses I'd not come across.

The fashion show was lots of fun, and we even got the girls back on stage to take some more pictures afterwards for their burgeoning modelling careers!

Charlie and Emma's Wedding!

Added Wednesday 7th July 2010

Charlie and Emma were married in one of the hottest weddings this year! But I was so happy with the pictures that I'm starting to think that some kind of pressure on a wedding day seems to focus my brain or something.

Emma with her gorgeous bridesmaids Adele, Sue, Charlie, Imogen, Maddie and Kate.

I think at this point Emma asked me "do I look alright?" and I showed her this picture. Emma you were so beautiful. And I love you too, Lol!

This photograph is from my good friend and second photographer for the day, Carole Kelly. If I'm not available for your wedding day, please call her! Put it this way, I'd hire her!

I won't bore you with how hard this was to get! But for the photographers who I know stalk this blog ;-) thank god for liveview.

The Park Hall Estate was a great reception venue, with beautiful rooms for the bridal party to prepare in, a great marquee for dinner, and lots of lovely spots for photos.

I'll always remember what Charlie's saying to Emma here. It was "Who ARE you?! And how did I get you to marry me?"

Just a thought...

Charlie and his best men Sayer and Steve were really funny and I thoroughly enjoyed their speeches. You can see everybody cracking up in these pictures!

As I left, the party was kicking off in style with an awesome ABBA tribute band, complete with accessories to get everyone in the mood! Charlie and Emma, thank you for making me a small part of your special day. Carole and I had such a blast with you, and we've made some pictures I will always always be proud of!

The most arresting portrait I ever saw

Added Saturday 3rd July 2010

You may have seen this picture before but not known about it's author. I think amnesty international used it for something. Yesterday I took the afternoon off, because my good-looking boss said I could. I went into Birmingham on the train, and on my travels, noticed an exhibition at the museum by photographer Steve McCurry.

I want to go back soon and spend a little more time. Even across a busy square, this image reaches out and grabs you by the neck and demands attention. Much like the Mona Lisa, it's all about the eyes, and the big mystery is what she is feeling. So many possible emotions.

This exhibition is a retrospective look at decades of work, primarily striking portraits in colour more vivid than you may ever have seen unless you've actually been to the middle east. It's free and if you can get to Birmingham, I'd recommend a look.

Birthday cupcakes!

Added Friday 2nd July 2010

My friend Lizzie (who is long since past being called a 'customer'!) sent me some yummy looking cupcakes for my birthday. She's so in the bride hall-of-fame.

Receiving a parcel this awesome also made me think about how important packaging is. Getting my excellent looking package from the post office I think all the other customers were way jealous clutching their boring jiffy bags and brown thingys. Maybe I can do something more interesting with my correspondence?? I've been thinking about getting some much classier stationery for a while.

Thanks Lizzie and Paul. You're lovely. And I'm thirty.....(soon) x

Landscapes

Added Thursday 1st July 2010

People keep asking me if I ever take anything other than stunning, insightful, beautiful, emotive pictures of brides and grooms. (alright, that's not exactly what they ask)

Here are a couple of photos from going out and about walking in the past couple of weeks.
